So I’m finally going to be posting videos and links to those here. So here’s a video from the blargh factory, a writing centric youtube show i assistant host with author Amy Hopkins. We discuss marketing. Two different techniques from two different people. Are you Team Amy? Or Team me, Team Virdi? DECIDE!
Link below! Also once you’re done watching please leave a comment about what you thought. Tell me what you’d like to see and hear about. And leave a youtube comment if you can. Thank you!
The Blargh Factory marketing
Wait, we have teams? I can’t compete the The Awesome Virdi!
I am team both! I watched most of the videos last night and both of you always seem to bring up good points. I’m typically a plotter. Not to the extreme. I have an outline with a sentence or two description of what I want to happen in the story, and I may flesh out my main characters a little before I start writing, but that’s it.
That said, the project I’m working on at the moment is a pantsing project. I have a general idea; a mythology based on a bit of history, myth, and legend; and two main characters… That’s it. I’m letting the characters lead me on a journey from there. I know where I want to end up, but not how I’m going to get there as with most of my planned works.
Again, in marketing – I see the positives and negatives of word-of-mouth/face-to-face connections as well as e-marketing. I’m doing a bit of both myself.I love the idea of swag and giving swag away and watching your video about such as well as having seen some of the images of the trinkets you, Ronnie, give away gave me some ideas I can try in the future… when I have the finances to put them to work. 😉
That said, I have also signed up with MailChimp for a newsletter, and have absolutely NO idea what I’m doing. *cries ugly sobs*
